Product pipeline: build version 1

Turn your first working thing into a complete v1 that a friend can play or use from start to finish.

The brief

Write down what v1 must do. Have Claude build it. Put it in front of a real person and watch them use it without helping. Then fix what confused them.

Why this matters

This is the loop every company runs: decide, build, test, fix. You’ll reuse it in every module after this one, for your website, your brand and your content. Learn it here on something fun.

Where to start

Ask Claude to interview you about your idea and turn your answers into a short spec. Read it carefully. The spec is where you make decisions, so change anything that isn’t what you want.

Then build from the spec, one piece at a time. After each piece, try it yourself.

A spec is a promise to yourself about what you’re not building yet. The “not doing” list matters as much as the “doing” list.

Project files

At the end of this module your project should have a CLAUDE.md file that tells Claude what the project is, how it’s built and what you’ve decided. Ask Claude to create one and keep it up to date. This is how you stop explaining yourself every session.

What your reviewer will look for

These come up in almost every review of this module. Get ahead of them.

  • Vague requests like "make it better". Better how, for whom?
  • Accepting the first thing Claude produces without pushing back.
  • Calling it done before testing it.
  • Re-explaining your project every session instead of writing it down once.

Submit for review

Fill this in, copy it, and post it in the cohort channel. Reviews focus on your process as much as the result, so be honest about where you got stuck.
